Melissa was born in Nottinghamshire and moved to Cornwall when she was ten. She got into triathlon through her dad having previoulsy taken part in surfing, swimming and surf live saving.
She competes in the Tri6 (visually impaired) category in triathlon and is coached by Allan Reid. She finds cycling the tougest part of the triathlon and spends many hours training on a static turbo trainer to overcome this.
Melissa is a member of Gyllngvase club and also works as a swimming teacher. She was first selected for the British Triathlon Paratriathlon squad in 2012 having finished second at the 2011 Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship Series London.
