Job Description
Mark is the lead strength and conditioning coach at British Triathlon and is responsible for overseeing delivery of strength and conditioning services to the elite British triathletes. Mark is also an important member of the strength and conditioning team at the English Institute of Sport.
Why Triathlon?
The changing biomechanical movements and muscle recruitment involved in transitioning from swimming to cycling and from cycling to running, added to the accumulating fatigue of up to two hours makes the sport incredibly tough for the athletes and presents some interesting challenges for Mark as a S&C coach. Mark enjoys working with the elite coaching and support teams, as well as the athletes he delivers support to. Mark has complete confidence in the team’s individual and collective expertise and dedication to the sport.
Personal Sporting Goals
Mark enjoys keeping fit and has a personal goal of benching 150kg and back squatting 200kg in the gym.
Triathlon highlight since working at BT
Mark always finds it inspiring watching the British athletes perform well and will always remember having to act as a human buoy in a practice open water swim session on a training camp in Spain.
