James Davis lives in Upminster, Essex, where he attends Jodie Swallows' Old School, Coopers' Company and Coborn School. James is a member of the Optima Race Team.

Do you come from a sporting family?

My Dad used to be a national level cross country runner, and Mum used to play netball.

What is your best strength in triathlon?

Coming from a swimming background, the swim is my strongest discipline.

How did you get into triathlon?

I did the London Youth Games aquathlon a couple of times, had some good results and decided to pick up cycling with the help of the team leader.

What is your best achievement to date?

Winning the London Youth Games Aquathlon two years in a row, and being selected onto the Olympic Talent Squad.

Who do you look up to in triathlon?

The Brownlee brothers. The determination and skill they both show at all races is a true inspiration.

What is your ultimate goal in triathlon?

I would love to race an Olympics, and feature highly in the World Championship Series for a good few years.
