Ellie Walton is a member of the World Class Performance National Talent Squad. She hails from the same triathlon club as World Class Development squad athlete and European Junior silver medalist, Lucy Chittenden. Her swimming coach is Emma Collings, a former GB international swimmer, and her triathlon coach is James Beckinsale.

Height: 172cm

Club(s): Optima Racing Team in South West London, training alongside a stong group of junior boys and Gillian Sanders, a South African Elite looking to qualify for the 2012 Olympics. Swimming with Rushmoor Royals SC.

School: Garth Hill College Sixth Form studying four A-levels - Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and Maths

Do you come from a sporting family?

Yes. My mum currently participates in triathlon and half marathons, my brother is a member of the Berkshire Elite Rugby squad and my Dad used to play Rugby for the county, and won the 400m at English schools.

What are your plans for the future?

I aim to go to university to study a Biology based degree whilst fulfilling my ambitions as an athlete.  

Who do you look up to most in triathlon?

Helen Jenkins, because of her strength across all three disciplines and consistancy throughout the season and her career. Oh and we have the same birthday!

What is your best strength in triathlon?

The swim.

How did you get into triathlon?

I was in separate swimming and running clubs when my running coach at the time, Julian Goater, suggested that I give triathlon a go. My first race was at the age of eleven and I've just continued from there.

What’s your best achievement to date?

Winning the 2011 British Youth Triathlon Championships at Blenheim

What is your ultimate goal in triathlon and beyond?

I aim to have a long successful career as a senior athlete, my ultimate goal would be to win at a World Championship series race.
