Alison Patrick was recruited to triathlon from an atheltics background in 2013. Alison is visually impaired and races with a guide athelte. She has achieved Automatic Qualification for Rio and will be put forward for selection by ParalympicsGB in the summer.

She is based at the Paratriathlon Hub at Loughborough University, and has been a member of the World Class lottery fundeed British Paratriathlon squad since 2014.

Alison was drawn to triathlon when injuries stopped her running and friends persuaded her to have a go. She had previously swum as a junior and raced in the 1500m on the track at international level. However, it was the 800m where she had most success, including a IBSA world title. She also represented Scotland as an able bodied runner at the World Mountain Trophy.

In her first full year in the sport, Alison won the 2014 ITU world title in Edmonton in the PT5 class. In 2015 she also won the Rio Paralympic Test Event.

Alison is a qualified physiotherapist but is now training full time.
